Soooo loving this magazine

Ever since I got back into the whole make-up thing, I've become addicted to beauty and fashion magazines. Beforehand, the only fashion magazine I would buy was People's Style Watch. Now, I'm so into Allure, Glamour and Lucky Magazine.

Thanks to my hubby I'm now a subscriber to Lucky Magazine. I have to admit, at first I picked it out at random. The only person who I had seen reading this magazine was my supervising teacher (from when I was doing my student-teacher practice several years ago)-it's so random the things I can remember. The only other place to get it is Border's which is a little bit more than an hour away from hwre I live. I figured it be a good idea, considering that I love to keep up with the latest trends, even if the trends I follow nowadays are stay-at-home clothes that have been smeared in baby food... jiji :-)

If you're interested in keeping up with the latest fashion and beauty trends, I would definitely recommend this magazine. I can't keep my hands of it :-)

On stands it goes for $3.50 U.S.(as labeled on the magazine), although it's cheaper if you subscribe, one year for $14.97 plus $3.00 s/h.

Blues and Pink

Today I woke up in a very cheerful mood so I decided to do my make-up accordingly.Since my blouse had navy blue stripes I decided to play off of that. So, why not go ahead and play with different shades of blue. Then for some reason, I didn't think it was colorful enough so I decided to throw in some pink in to the mix. At first I thought the look was going to be a little bit too much, but I decided to go ahead with it. Life is too short to go around caring what other people might say about you anyway. Surprisingly, as the day went by I liked my look even more.

I have to say I live in a somewhat boring place. Usually, you won't see people walking around with cool make-up looks, outfits or even cool, funky nail polishes. Sometimes I feel a little weird when I do this. I don't really care what other people think but it's funny when people comment about these details.

Bright and Wild

I just got back from having stayed over at my parent's house for the weekend. I put my son to bed, prepared my husband's lunch for tomorrow and picked up the house a little bit. I wasn't sleepy at all so I decided to play around with my 2 new CG single e/s that I got during the weekend over at CVS.

Ordinarilly I wouldn't go for a look this bright and wild but I decided to stick with how the colors spoke to me :-)

Let me know what you think :-)

CVS Goodies

Yesterday I went to CVS for the first time (it's the first one to open where I live) and I picked up some goodies!

They were having a sale on Cover Girl, buy 1 and get the 2nd free. I'm not really into CG, except for their mascaras; those I love. I ended up getting an Essence of Beauty Crease Brush Duo, which was why I wanted to go to CVS in the first place. I also got 2 CG single eyeshadows, snow blossom-shimmery almost transparent white, not to pigmented- and turquoise tempest- a matte turquoise blue (sort of reminds me of a peacock). Why not get them, they were on sale!

Can't wait to play with my mew stuff!

1st FOTD

On Sunday (Feb. 21st, 2010) I went out with my family to church, the mall, Old San Juan and to Outback. This was the look I came up with thanks to the suggestions made by Fintia .

Please excuse the black mark on my forehead, I had just come out of Church (Ash Wednesday related. My hair looks crazy because I had just rolled down the windows. Next time I'll put up decent looking pictures.

Please remember I'm new to the whole make-up game :-) so I would love if you left any helpful comments

Valentine's Day Gift

I'm happy to announce that for Valentine's Day my husband got me the NARS blush in Orgasm. I had randomly mentioned that I would like to have it but, I considered it to be too expensive. I did not expect for him to remember the name of the blush or much less where to get it from. I wore it that same day and it looked great. I took two pictures but the lighting in my house isn't the best so you can't really see the color of the blush. I can't wait to go out again so I can do my make-up and come up with an e/s combo that goes well with the blush.

I would love to know what e/s colors you would recommend to go with my new blush. :-)

Mint Apple Nail Polish

In one of my previous posts I had mentioned how much I'm loving the whole nail polish thing. Lately I see myself changing my nail polish color once a week. But I always make sure to leave my nails completely bare for a couple of days in between random weeks so the nails can breath.

Lately I find myself buying Sinful Colors brand nail polish. I've gotten all of them at Walgreens when they are on sale 2 x 1. This week I went to walgreens to pick up some Vanilla ice cream and of course I was drawn to the cosmetics aisle' like I always am :-). I eyed every section and ended up getting one Sinful Color NAil Polish in mint apple. As soon as I saw the color I said I have to get it. THe color is so beautiful. It's like a jadish sea foam green with a hint of shimmer; it's a really pretty color. This color goes well now that we're getting close to spring because it can add and unexpected pop of color to your whole look.

The picture doesn't do the color justice.

Love of Nail Polishes

In the past I wasn't one to pay a lot of attention to my nails. I admit there were times when I just couldn't stand how my hands looked so I would go out and get acrylics. I always ended up getting the white tips. While I was pregnant I went and got my nails dome again but, that time I decided to get my acrylics done in whole colors. That's when I started to love the idea of being able to change the color of my nails whenever I wanted.

Approximately two months ago I decided that I was going to try to maintain my nails looking decent. I went out and bought a couple of Sinful Colors nail polishes at my local Walgreens along with a topcoat, basecoat and nail file. I've quit using acrylics in order to keep my nails looking fresh and natural. In the past,I would always apply the nail color when I was in a hurry and my nails always ended up looking like a hot mess. But I've been working on the color application and it's just been getting better and better.

Lately I've really been into funky, fun, nail polishes. Most of them might be last season but I really don't care. I've done my nails in hot pink, magenta, metallics (green, yellow, orange, blue) it's been crazy. I feel that by painting your nails you simply show off a bit of your personality. Although people who know me might disagree but I think the colors I've been sporting lately definitely show off a bit of my fun loving side. There are people out there who don't dare to try to pull off bold colored nail polishes.

Then I came to thinking...am I getting to old to wear these type of colors?

Why my sudden obsession with make-up

As the title of my blog lets you know I love make-up. My affair with make-up began more or less around twelve years ago I would say. I would have these make-up highs where I would buy loads of drugstore make-up. Then I would have these make-up lows where I would wear no make-up at all except for a little bit of lip gloss. Up until this point, I had always liked using make-up but I didn't know how to apply it correctly and in a creative and beautiful way.

All this changed two months ago thanks to an ex-college room-mate. I noticed that she started playing around with make-up a while back and started posting her looks on facebook. She would post ( and still posts) these beautiful looks with so many different color combinations. Little did I know that she started to get better and better thanks to youtube make-up tutorials.

Up until that point I was completely clueless to the whole youtube world. Little did I know that these youtube make up tuts would open my eyes to the way I see and use make up. Another unknown to me was that make-up would become a passion of mine. It's something that allows me to be creative and at the same time lets me have something that is solely mine.

I know I'll never get to be a make up guru but, I plan on learning as much as I can about make-up, how to best apply it and what color combinations work.
