Fun Night

image

Tonight, we decided to have ourselves a movie night.  We rented The Tooth Fairy, got some yummy snacks and a bottle of passion fruit wine.  We also decided to crack open a nice bottle of champagne that my husband had received a while back.

We were saving the champagne for something special.  What could be more special then to spend the night with the family and celebrate that my husband already has an interview for a summer internship and classes haven’t even started.

Yummy Korean Feast

On Monday (June 7th, 2010), my mom invited some of her Korean friends over so they could help her prepare some yummy land crabs (also known as blue crabs)

What happens after visiting Korean Church?

DSCF3231

Today we went to Korean church with my mom and youngest sister.  After the service they always have the most delicious Korean dishes-forgot to take my camera with me.

On the way home, my son fell asleep as well as my husband.  When we arrived home, we didn’t want our son to wake up so my husband just took the baby out of the car along with the car seat.  Needless to say, my son did not wake up and my husband decided to continue his nap.

Blizz

Yesterday (Saturday, June 5th, 2010) my husband, son, mom, sister and I went shopping at Plaza las Americas, the biggest shopping center in the Caribbean.  It’s located approximately an hour and fifeen minutes east from where we live.

imageAfter leaving the mall we headed towards Old San Juan to get our favorite treat.  As you can see we got some yummy frozen yogurt from Blizz!

My sister got raspberry frozen yogurt with almonds, strawberries and blackberries.  I got the original flavor with white chocolate chips, strawberries and mango.

This is the best frozen yogurt I have ever had!  I would compare it it to Pinkberry’s frozen yogurt.

What frozen yogurt chains are in your area?

Snack: A Healthy Alternative

Last night I was craving something sweet but I didn’t want to indulge my sweet tooth by eating ice cream or cake.

Instead, I opted for a sweet, healthy concoction.

DSCF3205

Campoverde Jumbo Strawberries are ideal for smoothies and shakes.

100% all natural, no sugar, preservatives or additives of any kind!

I love strawberries!

DSCF3207

Milk helps keep bones and teeth healthy and strong!

I prefer to drink light milk.

Take a couple of the frozen strawberries and some milk and throw them in your blender.

If you like your smoothies more on the creamy side make sure to add extra strawberries.

If you prefer your smoothie to be more liquidy then add more milk.

Add your sweetener of choice if you like really sweet things

(image from google images)

 DSCF3204

When you’re done mixing, pour into the glasses of your preference!

Enjoy by eating with a spoon or drinking it with a straw.

DSCF3208

To make your smoothies even more appetizing top them with bite size strawberry pieces.

What kind of smoothies do you like?

NOTD: Pink

DSCF3199

I did my nails last night and as you can see I kept them quite simple.  I’m not really one to use bubblegum pinks but I thought I’d give it a try to see if I could channel my inner girly girl, LOL.  I think this is a really cute color to showoff during the summer. I thought I’d make my nails more girly by adding a cute flower design on the ring finger.

Products Used:

* Yellow Stopper Nail Polish (Base coat)
* Sinful Nail Color (1 coat on nail bed)
* Milani Nail Art in Green Sketch (stem)
* Milani Nail Art in Yellow Design (petals)
* Pro Salon Formula Clear Nail Polish (top coat

I did my nails on Tuesday and by yesterday I had already peeled off the coats of polish!  Usually I tend to do just one coat of colored polish on the nail bed and this time I did two…must have been that.

Products Used:

* Yellow Stopper Nail Polish (Base coat)
* Bettina Nail Polish in Art Deco Green (2 coats on nail bed)

What's going on momma?

DSCF3202

We took our son to a new doctor today (Friday, June 4th 2010)-his pediatrician doesn’t see patients on Friday and I couldn’t  get a hold of her because both of her office phones had been disconnected (so weird).

While we waited to go in to see the doctor my son decided to call his abu (abuelo-grandfather) on a little toy phone.  Needless to say he was a bit confused when he saw that the number buttons were not on the actual phone.

Keeping up with this project is more difficult than I thought!

One of the 3 best pizzas I’ve ever had!  Hand made crust smothered in mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, onions, peppers and just the right amount of marinara sauce.

The other two best slices of pizza I’ve ever had are from Danny’s International Pizza in (Condado) San Juan, Puerto Rico and from a pizza parlor in Atlanta, Georgia –close to the new Comfort Inn near the airport.

What's the best slice of pizza you ever had?

Project 365 (4)

Today (Wednesday, June2nd, 2010) was a family day spent with my husband, son, mom and baby sister.  After spending the afternoon at Fort Buchannan we went out to dinner to a restaurant called Boom in the city of Bayamon.

DSCF3187

I ordered a Pina Colada and of course, my son had to try it.  He still uses a bottle to drink his milk and a sippy cup to drink his juice but, he goes out of his way to drink anything with a straw.  Afterward my son entertained us for a bit by playing the game: “Let’s throw the menu on the floor before Daddy can catch it.”  It was a really good day!

Skin care: Neutrogena

Summer is around the corner and with it many of us decide to spend more time in the sun.  It’s very important to protect our skin against the harmful UVB and UVA rays.

I always use a daily facial moisturizer with SPF 15. But, if I know I’m going to spend an extraordinary amount of time under the sun I like to use a sunscreen lotion with  a SPF 50 or higher on my face and body.

I was running low on my facial moisturizer so I decided it was time to try on something new and this is what I got:

Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 from Neutrogena

My husband My husband is a little bit more on the whiter side, so he wears sunscreen with a high SPF on  a regular basis. He was running low on sunscreen and this is what he got:

Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with SPF 85 from Neutrogena

I’ll be writing a review of both products after I’ve used them for a little while.

What SPF products do you use?

I took this pic outside my parents house because I liked how you could see that ray of light peeking out amongst the clouds

Project 365 (1)

Hope everyone is having a blessed and happy Sunday!

Fintia from fallingformakeup has been working on project 365 for a couple of weeks.  The project consists of taking a picture each day for 365 days.

I know it’s going to be a challenge but I’m up for it!

Here goes my first picture!

Is it a boy or a girl?

My husband, son and I are going to a baby shower today.  For some of you it might seem strange that a guy would go to a baby shower but here in Puerto Rico it’s more of a family type activity than an all women activity.

The honoree is a an ex-collegue of mine, who is having her first baby. Yey for first born babies!  She and her husband have decided to keep the sex of the baby unknown.  I happen to think it’s a bit more exciting for the parents than the to the friends because shopping can be more difficult if you don’t know who you’re getting the gift for.

My husband and I went to Carter’s and picked up a couple of things.

A soon as we saw these bath time accessories I fell in love with them! Everything has a chick theme…I thought it was adorable :-)

What we got:

  • bathrobe
  • wash cloths
  • hooded towel
  • slippers

Both my husband and I thought that these things would work well either with a baby boy or girl.

What do you think?

It’s official!

Woman Working at a Dry Cleaners clipart

It’s official…my family and I are moving to the U.S.A.  (Technically Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States but I tend to think of it as it’s own country.)

Three weekends ago my husband and I flew out to visit the School that he’ll be attending and to get a feel for the area. I have to say that I’m totally digging the place.  It’s set in the country but has a city feel to it.  There are lots of parks, shopping malls, museums and restaurants.

I was very anxious to see the area because I had never been there before. I have to say that after having seen the area and met some of the couples that are also moving to the area I feel much more comfortable. I can’t wait to start this new chapter in our lives!

Toddler Fashions: Jumping Beans

I hope all of you lovelies are having a wonderful and blessed week!

My wonderful mother-in-law, Carol, sent us a little package last week.  The package included mail, magazines and a little surprise for my son.

Erik got this cute little Jumping Beans set!

  • It’s a size 2T light blue polo with a dark blue stripe and some cute little sea animals-which I love because summer is right around the corner.
  • The shorts are navy blue with a gray vertical line running down the sides.  The material is great for where we live at the moment because it’s very light and non-heavy.

Erik also got a sweet, yummy treat!

  • My son loved these cookies. Not only were they crunchy and yummy but they came in a cute little colorful box.

Fashions for Him: Calvin Klein

Hope all of you lovely readers are having a fun, cool, blessed week!

I don’t think I had mentioned this but my husband is starting Business School in August so we thought it would be a good idea to spruce up his wardrobe.  We were thinking of going with a smart casual and business casual look.

We went to our local Outlet and picked up two shirts from Calvin Klein

  • The shoulders are a bit boxy looking but I think it just helps my husband look taller.
  • Compared to the first shirt this one has a more casual look to it so I would pair it up with some nice, dark jeans.

Sorry about the poor quality in pictures! I kept looking for good lighting but it just didn’t workout as it was cloudy outside :-)

I hope to do more posts like this because my husband and I still have a lot of shopping to do :-)

What would you guys pair these shirts with?

Cool Music!

As I was driving my mother’s car yesterday morning I noticed that she had a Michael Jackson CD.  I immediately grabbed it and popped it in the CD player.  As soon as the music started, my body started to move to the beat of the songs and a surge of happy-good feelings went traveling through my body.

It doesn’t matter how long I go without listening to his songs because when I do hear them they sound better and better.  I’ve been listening to Michael Jackson’s music ever since I can remember.

No matter what song of his you listen to you can always tell it’s him.  He had a unique voice, style and dancing abilities which I would say are unparalleled to this day.

Some of my favorite MJ songs are:

  • Thriller
  • Beat It
  • Billie Jean
  • Smooth Criminal
  • Dirty Diana

What are some of your favorite Jackson songs?

Review: L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Cream Cleanser

I went shopping recently and picked up this cleanser from my local Walmart.  I had been wanting to try this product out for some time now but decided to wait until my current face wash ran out.

Price: $5.00

DSCF2969

What makes this product unique:

  • Go 360° Clean Deep Facial Cleansers bring you the very first Scrublet™.
  • This super-soft, flexible cleansing disc applies the cleanser with 500 extra-supple touch points that gently glide across the skin.
  • The cleanser formulas activate on contact to create a hi-foaming lather, which goes deep into pores, unclogging them and gently removing traces of dirt, oil and makeup in every last pore, crease and crevice.

Benefits

  • Smaller pores: Go 360° Clean shrinks the appearance of pore size and refinishes the skin’s surface to reveal skin with more clarity.
  • Deeper cleansing: Unique formulas reach down deeper to every last pore for a deep, deep clean. Keeps pores clean day after day.
  • Softer skin: Sweeps away dead skin cells for an extraordinary softening and smoothing effect
  • Easy-to-use: Scrublet™ cleanses pore-by-pore with a fuss-free cleansing process

(info and bottom images from: http://www.lorealparisusa.com)

This cleanser comes in 4 different formulas:

  • Exfoliating Scrub
  • Gel
  • Lotion
  • Sensitive Skin

Go 360° Clean Deep Facial Cleanser - Face - Skincare

My Verdict on the product:

  • The scrublet feels very soft when it comes into contact with the skin.
  • The scrublet’s softness and flexibility allows you to glide it on every little crevice and contour of the skin.
  • The cleanser has a very pleasant, refreshing , nice orange and minty smell to it.
  • If you dislike strong scents on your face then maybe this product might not be for you.  I for one enjoyed taking in the scents because it made me feel like I was getting a facial at a spa.
  • As you lather up your face you immediately start to feel like the product is getting deep into the skin.  I for one enjoyed the tingly feeling that it gives.
  • For the most part I would say that the cleanser leaves your face feeling cool, refreshed and smooth.

For the moment I’m very happy with this product!
